Allegri Miserere

Allegri miserereHannah Dahlenberg, soprano soloist
Christopher Cook, organ

Few choral works are as beloved as the Allegri Miserere. With its spellbinding soprano high Cs and atmospheric deployment of three choirs, this work has captivated listeners since it was first heard.

Another work intimately associated with the Sistine Chapel is Palestrina’s superb Stabat Mater. This program also includes the deeply-felt Requiem by Herbert Howells and Morten Lauridsen’s Lux aeterna, a work described by its composer as “expressing hope, reassurance, faith and illumination in all of its manifestations”.

Please join us for this program of glorious music to open our 2013 Season.
