A Ceremony of Carols

680414_601111446620505_1340740217_oThis year marks the centenary of Benjamin Britten’s birth.

To celebrate this, Gloriana presents a selection of Britten’s best-loved Christmas music.

A Ceremony of Carols combines traditional carol texts with the unique and beguiling sound-world of harp and high voices.

A Boy Was Born was composed when Britten was only nineteen, yet it makes virtuoso demands on the singers and also features his sublime setting of the Corpus Christi Carol.

A Hymn to the Virgin is one of Britten’s most enduring choral works and Christ’s Nativity is a rarely performed gem.

In the superb acoustics of Sacred Heart in Carlton, this programme will be a thrilling and heart-warming experience. Don’t miss out.
