Gloriana is thrilled to present a performance of Arvo Pärt’s Passio to celebrate the composer’s 80th birthday.
Composed in 1982, Passio was Pärt’s first large-scale work in his tintinnabuli style. The text, which tells the story of Christ’s Passion, is taken from the Gospel according to John.
Scored for chorus, semi-chorus, soloists, instrumental ensemble and organ, Pärt’s music is of singular power, beauty and originality.
